10.03.23
Boston, New Bedford, and Virginia Beach, USA
Dr. John Hall, a representative of CLEANcarolinas, recently embarked on an insightful trip, traversing multiple destinations to deepen his understanding of offshore wind energy. His trip, which took him from Boston, MA, to New Bedford, MA, and finally to Virginia Beach, VA, was a quest to grasp the evolving dynamics of the clean energy ecosystem. In these locations, Dr. Hall encountered a recurring trio of themes: the rapid technological advancements in offshore wind power, the importance of fostering a skilled workforce coupled with robust community engagement, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The first leg in Boston at the ACP Offshore WINDPOWER 2023 conference highlighted the latest in wind energy technologies and regulatory challenges, while the New Bedford Ocean Cluster showcased efforts to transform New Bedford into a key hub for offshore wind. In Virginia Beach, the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind tour provided Dr. Hall with a firsthand look at cutting-edge offshore wind turbines. Each of these experiences enriched his understanding of the sector’s potential and challenges. These insights, coupled with the connections made with leaders and experts in the field, are instrumental in aligning CLEANcarolinas’ efforts with the broader mission of cultivating and expanding clean energy resources and expertise in the Carolinas. This journey not only brought back valuable knowledge but also a reinforced sense of hope and commitment towards leading the Carolinas into a sustainable and prosperous clean energy future.
