CLEANcarolinas recently marked a significant milestone by participating in the prestigious Ocean Energy Europe (OEE) Conference. The event, held from October 24th to 26th, 2023, at the Amare Theatre in The Hague, Netherlands, stands as the largest marine energy sector conference in Europe. Dr. Saffeer Khan, representing CLEANcarolinas, joined a distinguished roster of attendees, including European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson and EU Commissioner for Environment, Oceans, and Fisheries, Virginijus Sinkevičius. OEE united technology developers, decision-makers, investors, and researchers from over 40 countries, fostering a collaborative atmosphere to share the latest advancements in renewable ocean energy.
Prior to this conference, CLEANcarolinas, in partnership with The Coastal Studies Institute, hosted a webinar focusing on ocean energy research opportunities between the USA and the Netherlands. This initiative provided a valuable platform for researchers from both nations to exchange ideas and explore collaborative prospects. As a Type-1 development awardee under the NSF Regional Innovation Engines program, CLEANcarolinas is committed to transforming the Carolinas into a hub for clean energy innovation. The participation in OEE 2023 and the preceding webinar are pivotal steps towards realizing this ambitious mission, embodying the organization's dedication to fostering global partnerships and accelerating the transition to sustainable energy sources.
